Birthday Policy

  • I celebrate your child's birthday by having them be "Person of the Day" on their birthday, or the closest date to the birthday (if on the weekend or during a break).
  • Person of the Day gets to do all the jobs in the classroom (calendar helper, paper passer, line leader, teacher assistant etc).
  • Summer birthdays are celebrated in May/June.
  • Food of any kind is not permitted since there are many food allergies.
  • OPTIONAL - You may send a small item for every classmate. We have 24 students. No big goodie bag of items. Please do not feel obligated to do this! As a parent myself, I feel like it's just one more thing to come up with, on top of throwing a birthday party/celebration.
  • Parents do not come in the class for birthdays (unless they happen to be volunteering that day). Birthdays are just celebrated as part of our regular routine (POD) to cause as little disruption as possible to our learning.
  • If you are hosting a birthday party outside of school, please only bring invitations to school if the entire class is invited. We don't want to have any hurt feelings if another child sees an invitation to a party and is not invited. I'm happy to help with passing them out.
